I often write about how one can remain happy as it seems to be allusive for many and something everyone is looking for. It really is quite simple actually. We are in control of ourselves, our thoughts, our beliefs and whether or not we want to be happy . I know, life hands you challenges and often punches.  The question is how are you going to handle those challenges and punches. Are you going to crumble, spiral into an abyss, or try to look at the world in a brighter way? Are there ways you can build your resilience today so you are better able to meet those challenges when they come?

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of happiness and well-being. Sonja Lyubomirsky writes in her book The How of Happiness, ” happiness offers myriad rewards, not just for the happy person but for his or her family, workplace, community, nation, and society.Working on how to become happier, the research suggests, will not only make a person feel better but will also boost his or her energy, creativity, and immune system, foster better relationships, fuel higher productivity at work, and even lead to a longer life.”

It is up to you. It is your attitude that counts. Pursuing happiness, or thinking about how you can flourish or thrive more in your life takes work, but it might be the most important work you ever do. Sometimes we get into these worry frenzies and we need to change the channel. Paying attention is key. What are your thoughts like? Do you beat yourself up day in and day out? Do you call yourself stupid? Not a good idea, be nice to yourself, yourself hears you :) How would a good friend talk to you? Are you your own best friend?

All of this sounds simple and easy and if I only knew what you were going through. The truth is we all go through something or other one time or another. I would rather get through with a smile on my face and a happy song in my heart rather than depressed and under the covers, wouldn’t you? I would rather sing Don’t worry Be Happy and Singing in the Rain rather than the blues

I know you have a lot on your plate and oh so much to do. First things first…..breathe, smile, sing a song and get on with life and all it has to offer. Appreciate the small things because it is not the years we have or the successes we accomplish or how great our kids are or are not it is the moments that count so pay attention to each and every one as much as you can. Each moment counts and every moment adds up to a life time. What kind of life do you choose?

How do you stay happy out in this crazy world of ours?
